Great video and I’ve now subscribed as so refreshing to hear a fitness RUclipsr talk about how tough it can be and being realistic. Everyday life brings loads of stresses so it’s good to get a reminder of what is really important. Sometimes that’s fitness but sometimes it’s not
Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work on the videos! You've definitely inspired me to try and tackle my first half ironman this summer, cant wait for the challenge ahead of me :) keep inspiring!
It happens. Especially when you train for big events. It happens to all of us endurance athletes but I cannot imagine the internal pressure from feeling like you have to produce related content for your job as well. Your personality won't let you stay stagnant and we'll be here for it!
Thanks for sharing mate. I did wonder about the YT content. I’ve had a challenging few weeks business wise myself, which was definitely transferring into other areas of my life. I really needed this video to help me think about how to process and move forward. Take care. Looking forward to seeing you on a Zoom call soon brother
Love this man, peoples concept of productivity and success needs to change, it's not more more more (calls, meetings, emails, workouts etc.), it's the quality. As you said taking a step back has allowed you to recharge, assess and produce value like you always do! Looking forward to following along in 2025.
Good luck for your Goals! It's mit an easy Task to balance Business, social Life and Performance. I struggle with this too. Will get the book you recommended!
Alc-free beer is just a gamechanger. Not only for staying sober for training purposes, partly even to cut down calories. But one great benefit is that when you drink 0% beer, people finally f-off and don`t bother you for the entire evening. When you just don`t drink, there`s always this stupid conversation to be had, zero beer somehow let`s you skip it most of the times.
Interesting that many of the athlete content creators I follow are either burnout, injured or have taken a break/reduce their commitments. Maybe it's a inevitable consequence of this go one more/sleep when you're dead/goggins mentality. Thank you for being honest Fergus, continuing to inspire but remain relatable & human!
I’d argue that I’m very much not in the Goggins/sleep when you’re dead camp - so hope I don’t come across that way 😂 Business/entrepreneurial and personal demands are what really got me in 2024, and when training is deprioritised it becomes less giving, even sometimes taking for me - which is a challenge given it’s such a core component of the very demands that made it difficult in the first place 😂 whilst also obviously being a huge personal supportive mechanism day-to-day!
I partially subscribed here not to see you fail but glad some truth came out. I have struggled to do lifting and running at the same time, having all kinds of bad recoveries plus endless injuries. Finally decided to quit lifting altogether after picking up cycling, now I train 15h/w with zero issues. Honestly to regular folks, it's better to do what suits you rather than pretending to do all of it just fine...
Forgive me but I don’t quite know what you mean here? Lifting and running isn’t what’s caused this issue, and injury was a result of a very bad ankle roll on a speed bump (which is just an incidental accident) - this was business, and content demand plus life stress related, whilst losing some of my stress relief outlet as a result of the timing of said ankle roll. I’m not saying ‘I trained way too much and burnt out guys sorry I was wrong’ but rather that overall workload and challenges along the way compromised my mental wellbeing (which has lots of downstream effects) - we have thousands of ‘regular folks’ with Omnia Performance that effectively balance strength and endurance goals around their varied lives, generalising and saying everyone should stick to one thing is needlessly closed minded IMO. Thrilled to have you as a subscriber, but are you suggesting there is a part that’s glad to see this (temporary) downturn? I hope that’s not the case 🤔
Regarding drink, I took a decision 16 years ago to stop drinking alcohol for 6 months, the cut off was Christmas, at that point I realised I no longer needed it. I agree, don't be a negative person around others who do drink, don't tip a lance at them. Just walk your own walk
Alcohol is horrendous for so many facets of health beyond what you've mentioned. Anything above zero is harmful. It's has 100% negative bias. Any perceived benefit is one kidding themselves. Congrats on being brave enough to sack it off. I also just did my FTP for the first time in 4 years with no bike volume, got 275 at 95kg, I'm excited about building - looking forward to seeing your progress too! All the best 👊🏽
We've all done it. As long as you are learning from it and willing to admit it, you've done nothing wrong. We will still follow a true hybrid athlete who has accomplished a lot a lot

Agreed entirely! Interested to see whether this is it for me or not, will assess come April 👀

Solid AF return to cycling my man well done 🤝
Honest and inspiring. What's your opinion on red wine? I don't get a hangover when I drink it but 4 beers I'm feeling it the next day
Thank you! Honestly, at this point, any alcohol at all I can feel the effects on my sleep - no difference drink to drink for me personally 🤷♂️
As always, a quality video Fergus 💪🏼 I like your objective approach to wellbeing
Thank you very much 🤝

@ferguscrawley95 🤜🤛
Does Fergus use ESN🧐🧐👌🏻
💪🙂💯
🤝
Takes a lot of guts, to be honest. hoping 2025 injury is injury free 🤞 we know when to push and hold back, but sometimes the ego wins.
4:48 You should tho. I'm surprised that you even still consume alcohol as an athlete. You should know how bad it is for our bodies.
Easily done gets harder the older u get , bloody annoying !!
